UniTo's response to the international Ukrainian crisis for Ukrainian and international students, professors and researchers

In order to welcome Ukrainian students, professors and researchers and guarantee the right to education to Ukrainian and international students enrolled in degree programs of the University facing financial difficulties due to the Ukrainian international crisis, the University of Turin promotes a set of actions, in compliance with the decisions made by the Academic Senate and the Board of Governors on 29 and 31 March 2022.

Call for 20 annual scholarships a.y. 2022-2023

Call for 20 annual scholarships worth €9,600, possibly renewable, for refugees or students holding a residence permit for temporary protection, primarily from Ukraine or other countries, who enroll in the first year of studies of University degree programs.

Initiatives for the academic year 2022-2023

Financial support in terms of scholarships and/or services provisions to Ukrainian students and/or students from other countries at risk and enrolled in years following the first of degree programs of the University of Turin, in order to guarantee an ongoing support of the right to education for these students.

For Erasmus incoming students from Ukranian University a.y. 2022-2023

UniTo offers 10 scholarships for 5-months mobility periods to Ukrainian students regularly enrolled in any Ukrainian University before 24th February 2022, willing to carry out an international mobility at the University of Turin for the a.y. 2022-2023 in the frame of the Erasmus+ Programme - mobility for studies.

The scholarship includes:

  • Euro 850,00 per month as individual support
  • Euro 250,00 per month as top-up for fewer opportunities
  • Euro 275,00 as a contribution for travel, according to the EU Commission distance band
  • total exemption from any amount due for university enrolment for a.y. 2022-2023 as foreseen by the Erasmus+ Programme
  • Italian language course free of charge
  • opportunity to use the EDISU canteen at discounted prices.

Application deadlines:

  • July 31st, 2022, for first semester arrivals
  • November 30th, 2022, for second semester arrivals.

For Ukrainian students of UniTo

For Ukrainian students enrolled for the academic year 2021-2022 in University degree programs who are facing financial difficulties following the outset of the conflict in Ukraine:

  • exemption from the payment of the due comprehensive tuition fee, with possible reimbursement of instalments already paid
  • scholarships of variable amount for a maximum value of € 3,000 each.

For Ukrainian students holding temporary protection

For Ukrainian prospective students who have applied for a residence permit for temporary protection:

  • possibility to enrol free of charge in single courses of the University for a maximum of 30 credits
  • possibility to enrol free of charge in the Foundation Programme of the University of Turin in order to fill in any missing requirement necessary to enrol in University degree programs
  • call for applications for 20 scholarships worth €1,000 each for those who enroll in the Foundation Programme or in at least 2 single courses offered by the University of Turin. The call closed on May 13th 2022. For Ukrainian professors and researchers holding temporary protection

For Ukrainian professors and researchers who have applied for a residence permit for temporary protection, the Departments activated the following positions:

Moreover, UniTo works in synergy with the Accademia delle Scienze of Torino, in favour of Ukrainian researchers with a profile of particular excellence, who are the winners of one of the above mentioned positions.

 

Specifically, the Accademia delle Scienze will offer to the most deserving profiles:

  • an additional amount
  • the recognition of the status of "fellow" (temporary affiliate).
For international students of UniTo facing financial difficulties following the outset of the conflict in Ukraine

For international students enrolled in the academic year 2021-2022 in degree programs who are facing financial difficulties due to the conflict in Ukraine:

  • extension until 31st July 2022 of the payment deadline of the third and fourth instalments of the student contribution for the academic year 2021-2022
  • financial support in terms of scholarships and/or services provision for a maximum amount of € 2,000 per person.

Call for students collaborations for tutoring activities to support Ukrainian students

Call for part-time collaborations, in partnership with Fondazione De Agostini, reserved for Ukrainian and international students enrolled in the academic year 2021-2022 in degree programs, aimed at tutoring activities to support Ukrainian high school and middle school students who will arrive in Italy as a result of the humanitarian emergency.

Italian language courses for Ukrainian students

The Ministry of University and Research (MUR) and Società Dante Alighieri (SDA) offer free Italian language courses for Ukrainian citizens holding temporary protection and enrolled in an Italian university.

 

Applications are open from 6th to 30th April 2023.
