FAQ - Exams
"Appello" means the date of the exam. Exams are scheduled in specific periods of the academic year, called exam sessions ("Sessioni d’esame"). Students are allowed to choose the "appello" that best suits their schedule.
For further information, please refer to the academic calendar of your own department.
Exam dates are usually published at least 120 days before the exam session starting date.
Log in to your personal MyUniTO page. Here you can proceed in two different ways:
- registering via your libretto (Examination Record book)
- via exam sessions
Registration is possible only during the opening time frame indicated next to the date of the exam.
Erasmus and Exchange students: read the instructions available at the related web page.
Make sure you added the course on your Career Plan first. Registration is possible only during the opening time frame indicated next to the date of the exam.
Please make sure that:
- you have paid your tuition fees (not applicable to Erasmus and Exchange students)
- you have completed and confirmed your career plan
- the course is listed in your “Libretto”
- registration time frame is open
If you still cannot register, please contact the Students registry offices at your department.
Erasmus and Exchange students: contact the international office at [email protected].
Yes, registration is open until 11.59 p.m. on the day of the deadline.
Once you are registered to the exam you can see the list of students who are registered to the same exam date. You can find this list on the field “Exams - Exams Booking Board”.
Login into MyUniTO and click on the “Exams” tab at the top of the page then select the second option in the drop-down menu: “Exams Booking Board”. Click on the “X” next to the exam date to cancel your registration.
This option is available only when the registration timeframe is open.
On that date, your status will be registered as "assente" (absent). If you do not intend to take the exam on that date, please cancel your registration. This allows the department and professors to organise the exam session. Please bear in mind that the system keeps track of all the registrations you make.
All official communication about courses, exams and other administrative information is sent to your Unito email address associated to your MyUniTO account (UsernameStudente@edu.unito.it).
A “scritto verbalizzante” (written exam with registration) is a written exam whose mark amounts to the final total result. On the other hand, a “scritto non verbalizzante” (written exam without registration) is a written exam which is part of an assessment made up of different components. The overall course mark is calculated as a weighted average of the marks for all the components.
Erasmus and Exchange students: please bear in mind that “non verbalizzante” exams cannot be registered on your libretto nor on your Transcript of Records. Always make sure you choose the correct “appello” and/or ask the relevant Professor for confirmation.
You can find this information on your MyUniTO under “Exam Sessions”. Check the description box of an exam: if you see “Non verb” that means “non verbalizzante” (exam without registration). In this case, the mark of that exam will not be registered until all components have been taken and assessed.

The date of publication of results depends on many factors such as the type of exam (oral or written), how many students were assessed on that date, the complexity of the assessment.
In case of an oral exam, you will know your evaluation immediately. The evaluation of written exams may require 3 to 4 weeks.
You can ask the Professor who manages the course an approximate date.
Exam results are published on the Results notice board by the Professor who manages the course. They are then registered on your Examination Record book by the Students registry office of your department.
You will know your result immediately and you will be able to accept/refuse it directly with the relevant Professor.
To see the exam results log in your MyUniTO -Exams -Results notice board.
When results are published, you will receive a notification on your Unito email address (UsernameStudente@edu.unito.it).
You can only accept/refuse the result of a "scritto verbalizzante" (written exam with registration). If you don’t accept/refuse a result within the deadline, the result will be confirmed automatically (silent consent).
If you sit a "scritto non verbalizzante” (written exam without registration) you will only be able to see your result on the Result notice board. You will need to complete all other parts of the assessment before you will be able to refuse/accept the result. The overall course mark is calculated as a weighted average of the marks for all the components.
