The research activities of the department on water focus on:
- interaction of precipitation (snow, water) with ecosystems with particular focus on the mountain environment;
- water as a resource for crops and strategies to fight water stress;
- new strategies to limit the impact of agriculture on water quality (reduction of pesticides, fertilizers, contaminants);
- water in the management of rice fields: trade-off between productivity, water saving and environmental sustainability.
