MSCA@UniTo offers postdoctoral researchers the opportunity to apply for a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions postdoctoral fellowship (MSCA-PF) choosing the University of Turin as host institution.
30 top candidates are selected to join a free programme designed to:
- inform on the MSCA-PF funding scheme and its opportunities
- train on how to write a successful proposal and address key research issues
- support the whole proposal writing process, until the submission, by involving specifically trained research managers and administrative professionals.
Indicative timeline
- 1st April 2025: MSCA@UniTo online infoday
- 9th April 2025: launch of the call for proposals HORIZON-MSCA-2025-PF-01-01
- April 2025 (TBC): launch of the application to MSCA@UniTo 2025 online/onsite training and support programme
- April-May 2025: MSCA@UniTo 2025 online/onsite training
- May-September 2025: one-to-one support for proposal writing
- 10th September 2025: deadline for submitting proposal.
List of the training programme features:
- it is specifically built to enhance the skills of the selected researchers
- candidates will learn how to write a successful MSCA-PF proposal, with practical activities on proposal. The training will focus on different topics, including addressing key research issues or Open Science
- the MSCA@UniTo support measures, provided by UniTo professional experts in the MSCA-PF funding scheme, will accompany the candidates to the proposal submission.

Who can apply
Candidates must meet the requirements of the call (see below in the "MSCA postdoctoral fellowship" section). MSCA@UniTo 2025 training and support programme is open to postdoctoral researchers from all over the world that:
- hold a PhD degree on the closing date for applications. Applicants who have successfully defended their doctoral thesis but who have not yet formally been awarded the doctoral degree are also eligible to apply
- have a maximum of eight years of experience in research from the date of the award of the PhD degree
- comply with mobility rules: they must not have resided or carried out their main activity (work, studies, etc.) in the country of the beneficiary (for European Postdoctoral Fellowships) or the host organisation for the outgoing phase (for global postdoctoral fellowships) for more than 12 months in the 36 months immediately before the call deadline.
No nationality or age restrictions are foreseen. All research areas can be funded. Some exceptions and specific conditions apply.

How and when to apply
Application period for the MSCA@UniTo 2025 training and support programme will open soon.
Candidates interested in participating in the programme are asked to complete an application form and provide:
- curriculum vitae (max 3 pages) - the template will be available soon
- short proposal - the template will be available soon
- letter of acceptance signed by a supervisor at UniTo. The letter must include the confirmation that the Head of Department has been informed of the application (the template will be available soon).
Participating researchers are selected by an internal Evaluation Commission on the basis of the curriculum vitae and the one page proposal.
50% of candidates are chosen among those researchers who have/have had a temporary research assignment in UniTo (collaboration ended no more than 12 months before the call deadline).
The selection results will be notified to all candidates by email.
MSCA@UniTo training is delivered for free. No registration fee is charged to participants.
The University of Turin will cover the expenses of meals and accommodation during the 3-day summer school.
The University will not cover:
- travel costs to/from Turin
- costs related to Visas, documents, etc.
- extras during the 3-day summer school
- any other cost not specified.
It is delivered in English. Candidates can choose to attend online or onsite. Onsite participation is highly recommended.
Participation in the training is mandatory to have access to the support measures. When applying, please take note of the training dates and make sure you will be able to attend in case of a positive result in the selection process.
The objective of PFs is to support researchers’ careers and foster excellence in research. The postdoctoral fellowships action targets researchers holding a PhD who wish to carry out their research activities abroad, acquire new skills and develop their careers. PFs help researchers gain experience in other countries, disciplines and non-academic sectors.
MSCA postdoctoral fellowships are open to postdoctoral researchers from all over the world that:

There are 2 types of postdoctoral fellowships:

European postdoctoral fellowships: they are open to researchers moving within Europe or coming to Europe from another part of the world to pursue their research career. These fellowships take place in an EU Member State or Horizon Europe Associated Country and can last between 1 and 2 years. Researchers of any nationality can apply.

Global postdoctoral fellowships: they fund the mobility of researchers outside Europe. The fellowship lasts between 2 to 3 years, of which the first 1 to 2 years will be spent in a non-associated Third Country, followed by a mandatory return phase of 1 year to an organisation based in an EU Member State or Horizon Europe Associated Country. Only nationals or long-term residents of the EU Member States or Horizon Europe Associated Countries can apply.
The beneficiary receiving EU funding needs to recruit the researcher for the total period of the fellowship.
The EU provides support for the recruited researcher in the form of:
- a living allowance
- a mobility allowance
- if applicable, family, long-term leave and special needs allowances
In addition, funding is provided for:
- research, training and networking activities
- management and indirect costs.
