LLC lecture: "Free will in a physical world"

30 November 2018 from 3:00pm to 5:00pm

On 30th November 2018 (3:00 pm), Christian List (London School of Economics) holds a lecture on "Free will in a physical world" as part of LLC Lecture series 2018. The event takes place at Palazzo Nuovo - Sala Lauree Scuola di Scienze Umanistiche  (via Sant'Ottavio 20, Turin - ground floor).

Christian List is Professor of Political Science and Philosophy at the London School of Economics. His work is at the intersection of philosophy, economics, and political science, with a particular focus on individual and collective decision-making and the nature of intentional agency. He has long-standing interests in social choice theory and the theory of democracy. In recent years, a growing part of his research has addressed metaphysical questions, e.g., about free will, causation, probability, and the relationship between “micro” and “macro” levels in the human and social sciences.

The LLC Lecture series is an annual series of lectures established by the Center for Logic, Language, and Cognition (LLC) of the University of Turin to promote and disseminate key results and approaches in research about logic, language, and cognition, broadly construed. Each year the Center invites an emerging or established researcher for a public presentation in Turin. The lectures are preferably based on materials that the invitee is about to publish or that s/he has just published, so they are intended as an opportunity to present and discuss new research work to a diverse audience.
