Development cooperation

International cooperation for sustainable development, human rights and peace is an integral and qualifying part of Italy's foreign policy (L. 125/2014).

On the basis of its institutional principles, the University recognises the ethical and strategic value of international cooperation to develop global justice, in order to achieve sustainable human development, in line with the commitments undertaken by the international community.

In enhancing social and cultural diversity among peoples, the University promotes international cooperation for development, through research, training and third mission, as well as through bilateral and multilateral partnerships with local, national and international organisations, so as to develop expertise and strategies locally.

UniTo promotes exchange programmes, research and study focusing on sustainable development issues, participating at various levels that intertwine research, training and third mission, in partnership with Italian and foreign universities and institutions.

The University also adheres to national and international networks that promote the values of International Development Cooperation by carrying out joint activities.

In 2023 UniTo promoted the signing of a collaboration protocol on the exchange and transfer of expertise and good practice on the themes of international cooperation for development and global citizenship education, signed by Politecnico di Torino, Regione Piemonte, Anci Piemonte, Città Metropolitana di Torino, Città di Torino, Coordinamento Comuni per la Pace and Consorzio delle Ong Piemontesi Ets.
