Women in Mathematics Day

On the occasion of the international "Women in Mathematics Day", on Thursday 9th May 2024, from 9 a.m. to 5.30 p.m., a meeting will be held in Aula C of Palazzo Campana (via Carlo Alberto 10, Torino), to raise awareness of the gender gap in STEM fields. The event is organised by the Department of Mathematics "G. Peano" of the University of Turin, in collaboration with the Department of Mathematical Sciences "G. Lagrange" of the Polytechnic University of Turin.

 

During the morning, some PhD students in Mathematics, Physics and Computer Science will present their research activities. In the afternoon there will be talks on the topic of the gender gap in academia, with a focus on STEM disciplines, by:

  • Veronica Felli (EWM)
  • Manuela Naldini and Cristina Solera (project leaders "MINDtheGeps" and "GEA-Gendering Academia" UniTo)
  • Cecilia Pennacini (Department of Cultures, Politics and Society - UniTo)
  • Marina Della Giusta (Department of Economics and Statistics - UniTo)
  • Chiara Rollero (Department of Psychology - UniTo)

At the end of the event, the speakers of the afternoon session will participate in a panel discussion.

 

All the seminars will be held in English.
