17 April 2019 from 4:00pm to 7:00pm

On 17th April 2019, Gina Rippon (Aston Brain Centre, School of Life and Health Sciences, Aston University, Birmingham) holds a seminar on The Gendered Brain. The event takes place at Campus Luigi Einaudi (Aula E5 - Lungo Dora Siena 100, Turin).

  • Introducer: Maria Laura Di Tommaso, University of Turin
  • Discussant: Maria Claudia Vigliani, University of Turin
Abstract

"Despite 17th century assertions that "the mind has no sex", neuroscience research in subsequent centuries (including the 21st) has appeared to focus on finding confirmatory evidence of the "essential" difference between men’s and women’s brains.
As covered in my book, The Gendered Brain, explanations of these gaps encapsulate almost every aspect of wider arguments about the origin of sex/gender differences."

The seminar will be conducted in English. Free entry.
