Poultrynsect: an Update on the Use of Insects as Animal Feed

On November 23rd 2021, from 9.30 a.m. to 1.30 p.m., the Poultrynsect project team opens its doors to the Italian and international public at the event "Poultrynsect: an Update on the Use of Insects as Animal Feed" accessible both in live streaming and physically at the campus AGROVET UniTo, L.GO Paolo Braccini 2, Grugliasco - Turin, inside the Aula Magna A.

 

During the event, focused on the current use of insects in animal feed, the following topics will be addressed:

  • introduction to the Poultrynsect project
  • current legislation on the use of insects in feed. The current European situation.
  • life Cycle Assessment (LCA) as a tool for the evaluation of the sustainability and environmental impact of animal productions
  • breeding insects for sustainable feed: the case of the start up BugsLife

The event is organized in partnership with the University of Turin, CNR (National Research Council), Inagro, DIL (German Institute of Food Technologies), Nofima (Norwegian Institute of Food, Fisheries and Aquaculture Research) and funded by: Mipaaf, Flanders State of Art, Federal office for Agriculture and Food and The Research Council of Norway.

 

The speakers, of international caliber, will be:

  • Francesco Gai (CNR ISPA, Italy) 
  • Laura Gasco (Department of Agricultural, Forest and Food Sciences - University of Turin)
  • Sergiy Smetana & Dusan Ristic (DIL Germany )
  • the start up BugsLife (Italy).
