Argument:
From Thursday 21 March 2024 at 9:00am, to Friday 22 March 2024 at 8:00pm
Via Giuseppe Verdi, 10124 Torino mappa

The international conference "Narratives of Water Flows, Routes, Crises in the Atlantic World" takes place on Thursday 21st and Friday 22nd March 2024 at Sala Lauree - Centro Aldo Moro (via Verdi, Torino).

The event is organised with the patronage and contribution of the Department of of Foreign Languages, Literatures and Modern Cultures.

As climate change ravages our oceans, seas, rivers and lakes, and with them their flora and fauna, this conference brings together scholars in the field of Blue Humanities, drawing from disciplines encompassing an array of subjects, from literature and history to environmental science and cultural studies to explore the profound significance of waterscapes.

Contributions will address the multifaceted dimensions of water through literary texts (understood broadly to include also theatre plays, graphic novels, movies, TV series, video games, podcasts, and other cultural products), with the aim of expanding the scope of Blue Humanities studies to less trodden waterscapes, such as freshwater bodies on both sides of the Atlantic Ocean, as well as water-related atmospheric phenomena such as rain, snow, hail, and storms.
