The Rowing Regatta, the famous boat race between the University of Turin and the Polytechnic of Turin, is back on October 4th, 2019, for its 23rd edition.

The event starts at 5 pm at the Rectorate of the University of Turin (via Verdi 8, Turin) with the traditional blessing of the boats. Teams will then parade along Via Po towards the race location at Murazzi on the river Po.

First to compete will be the women's team with squad scull and then the men's 8+ with the athletes of the University and Polytechnic of Turin.

The race between the two men's crews starts at 6 pm with three 400-meter distance sprints (from Vittorio Emanuele I Bridge - Piazza Vittorio Veneto to the Umberto I Bridge - Corso Vittorio Emanuele II).

The three races are all held in upstream. Victory goes to those who get the best placings in all three sprints.

Inspired by the historic match between the prestigious British universities of Cambridge and Oxford, the Turin University Sports Centre (CUS Torino) has brought the Rowing Regatta in the Savoy land since 1997: The event is not only aimed at promoting rowing sports and university sports in general but it also represents a link between sports, culture and the history of the Savoy city, giving the possibility to university students to participate and feel the excitement of the rowing world on our territory.

In 2018 the Polytechnic of Turin won the Rowing Regatta bringing the event's Golden Roll to a score of 12 to 10, to the advantage of UniTO. The women's competition also saw the Polytechnic prevail over the University.
