The IdeM network
IDEM (Identity Management for Federated Access) was the name of the GARR pilot project to create a federated Authentication and Authorisation Infrastructure. At the end of the project, IDEM became the name of the Italian Federation for Authentication and Authorisation of Organisations belonging to the GARR Community.
Some organisations participating in IDEM decided to federate their captive portals to allow members of an organisation who are temporarily located in a different location from their own to use the local wireless network (WLAN) with the same credentials (username and password) they would use in their own institution, without the need for further formalities at the host institution.

Who can use the service
- Guests of the University of Turin who are members of institutions affiliated with IDEM
- UniTo users with valid SCU credentials (the same ones used to access MyUniTo and email).
The advantages of UniTo joining IDEM
The University of Turin's membership of the IDEM federation also guarantees UniTo users with SCU credentials access to the wireless networks of associated third-party organisations.

Information and conditions for using the service

- Il servizio viene reso disponibile per finalità di didattica, di ricerca scientifica e per i servizi di supporto agli utenti
- I log che tracciano gli accessi vengono mantenuti per 6 mesi. Vengono registrati gli accessi, memorizzando su log ad esempio la data, l'ora, l'apparato dal quale si sta effettuando la navigazione, l'IP di destinazione (si tratta di una registrazione tecnica, effettuata automaticamente dal sistema). Il dato è accessibile agli amministratori di sistema e viene consultato solo per questioni puntuali inerenti la sicurezza informatica o per richieste specifiche da parte delle autorità di pubblica sicurezza.
