RED - Robot for Endoscopic Dissection

Technology description

RED (Robot for Endoscopic Dissection) is a tool is a hood that is possible to add at the tip of a standard endoscope that every hospital has. The hood contains a teleoperating robot (master-slave robot) with 2 arms (one with a gripper and the other with a dissector) that the surgeon/endoscopist can control by a ergonomic console similar to the console normally used in robotic surgery.
The primary treatment for the 80% of non-metastatic cases of colorectal cancer is surgical resection with only local excision. This local excision is performed  very well in rectum with TEM (Transal Endoscopic Microsurgery) instead in the rest of the colon, as TEM is 4 cm dimeter, we have to do local excision with ESD (Endoscopic Submucosal Dissection). Although this technique do not have the same good oncological radicality results as TEM and has more complications. This is due because ESD do not allow to make manipulation of the tissues as it is not possible to triangulate the instruments to the lesion. 
The RED copy the movements done during TEM, with good triangulation of the instruments to the target lesion and good manipulation of the tissues making a tool much smaller (around 1 cm of diameter) then TEM.
