Call for papers: UNITA Annual Conference 2026 – European Identity, Politics of Memory, and Engaging Europe's Totalitarian Past

The UNITA Alliance is pleased to announce the call for papers for the UNITA Annual Conference 2026

This year’s thematic section focuses on European Identity, Politics of Memory, and Engaging Europe's Totalitarian Past, integrated within Panel 17 of the ACUM 2026 Conference, which will take place on 5th November at Transilvania University of Brașov (Romania).

Researchers, academics, and PhD candidates from across the UNITA Alliance are invited to submit abstracts addressing how European identity is formed, negotiated, and transmitted to younger generations in times of social and digital transformation.

Event Details

  • Venue: “Sergiu T. Chiriacescu” Conference Centre, Transilvania University of Brașov (Romania)
  • Abstract submission deadline: 1st September 2026
  • Participants from UNITA Alliance universities whose papers are accepted will be fully exempt from the conference participation fee.
  • Abstracts must be submitted via the online platform by selecting Panel 17 (European Identity, Politics of Memory, and Engaging Europe's Totalitarian Past).
