International Symposium on Archaeometry
From 18th to 22nd May 2026, the Auditorium Aldo Moro (P.le Aldo Moro, Torino) will host the 45th International Symposium on Archaeometry – ISA 2026, the world’s leading event dedicated to archaeometry.
Experts, researchers, PhD candidates and students from all continents will discuss the latest scientific developments in the study of archaeological artefacts. In addition to archaeology, the analysis of the past involves numerous scientific disciplines – from Chemistry and Physics to Biology and Earth sciences, as well as Computer Science and Mathematics – all contributing to the interpretation and enhancement of the material evidence of past civilisations.
The combination of these interdisciplinary activities is known as archaeometry, a field of research that integrates different scientific expertise to answer archaeological questions: determining the age and origin of artefacts, reconstructing production technologies and uses, identifying areas of archaeological interest before excavations, studying past environments, flora and fauna, and understanding the movements and migrations of ancient populations.
