UniTo international website
The University of Turin Portal is the online gateway to the University’s information, services and digital resources. Organised by thematic areas and designed for different user profiles, it facilitates access to content and the use of digital services.
It is a constantly evolving environment, developed with a focus on continuous improvement and designed to ensure clear navigation and a user experience as close as possible to your needs.
The homepage
The homepage brings together all the tools you need to navigate the Portal easily. Discover its main elements.
A dynamic element designed to highlight the main content of the University Portal. It provides immediate access to an always up-to-date selection of information, deadlines, news and key events.
Information is organised by thematic area: University, Studying at UniTo, Research, International Relations, Services, Living in Turin.
You can navigate the menu in two ways:
- by clicking on the top-level items, you will access the section homepage, which presents the content of the entire thematic area: the list of second-level items, selected notices and events, related resources, featured services, help desks and facilities
- by hovering over the top-level items, a drop-down menu will open, providing a comprehensive overview of the Portal’s content. From here, you can directly select the topic of interest and access the information you are looking for.
User profiles provide dedicated pathways to access content relevant to your needs, offering a quick and direct response to your main information requirements.
On the homepage, the “Info for” section is highlighted, with links to profiles dedicated to international users:
- Prospective students
- Current students
- Exchange students
- PhD candidates
- Visiting Professors and Researchers
Content is organised into thematic blocks, with clearer sections and useful tools that allow direct access to content relevant to each user profile. This makes navigation more efficient and consistent.
This section brings together the University’s official communications – calls for applications, deadlines, opportunities, elections and general updates – and allows you to filter news by topic or by target audience .
This section provides an up-to-date calendar of upcoming initiatives (conferences, seminars, exhibitions, academic events), indicating dates, format (in person, online or both) and event title.
The footer provides quick access to key information. It brings together four main navigation areas:
- Resources
- Students
- Useful links

An ever-evolving Portal
The University Portal is continuously evolving, with a focus on ongoing improvement aimed at enhancing content usability and ensuring a better user experience (UX). It is developed with attention to emerging technologies, the design guidelines for public administration websites (AGID), and compliance with regulations on transparency, information security, accessibility, service monitoring, user interfaces, integration of enabling platforms and licensing.

The Portal’s three dimensions
The portal was designed and developed based on the "Stanca" Act No. 4/2004 accessibility standards and its "Measures to help disabled persons access web content".
The portal was awarded the CNIPA accessibility certification in 2008 and now carries the logo demonstrating it satisfies accessibility standards.
The latest version of the portal reflects technical requirements required by the Decree 20 March 2013 updating the accessibility requirements for public sector websites and in line with the "AA" level of the WCAG 2.0 "Web Content Accessibility Guidelines" of the W3C.
The information and services on the portal can be accessed on various platforms, different browsers and through assistive technologies. There are a few cases, however, where elements overlap when using "dated" browsers, although users can still browse and access information.
Thanks to Mobile first and Responsive Web Design, the portal adapts automatically to the characteristics of the device you’re using, be it a smartphone, tablet or PC. This means you have an optimized browsing experience on devices with different sizes/resolutions without even noticing.
UniTO engineers decided on HTML5 and CSS3 in order to fully exploit both current and future features of browsers and mobile devices thanks to support from advanced and dynamic features. This means that HTML and CSS syntax validation is not always fully compliant. The portal is managed with CMS Open Source Drupal which is compatible with international ISO and W3C standards.

Winter 2026 - The redesign project
At the beginning of 2026 the website has undergone a redesign project that involved:
- an update of the technological platform
- targeted interventions on content, aimed at improving usability and the overall user experience
- a graphic renewal designed to make the website more contemporary and to enhance the University’s image in an international context.
A more modern, responsive and readable layout
The new website adopts a layout designed to ensure optimal use across all devices, including smartphones and tablets.
The graphic interface has been simplified, with wider spacing and improved content organization, resulting in less dense and more readable pages.
Clearer user profiles and more effective information paths
Featured prominently on the homepage is the “Info for” section, which provides direct access to content of greatest interest for the main user profiles: Prospective Students, Current Students, Exchange Students, PhD Candidates, Visiting Professors and Researchers.
Content has been organized into thematic blocks and clearer information pathways, supporting more efficient and coherent navigation and making it easier to identify relevant information for each profile.
What remains unchanged
The quality of the content and the overall information architecture of the website have been preserved, in order to maintain familiarity with the existing structure and facilitate orientation. Information continues to be organized by thematic areas (University, Studying at UniTo, Research, International Relations, Services, Living in Turin), and navigation items at deeper levels remain unchanged. The Portal’s identity and communication style therefore remain recognizable, within the new graphic context.
A further step in a process of continuous improvement
The new website is not an endpoint, but another milestone within a broader process of change and evolution of UniTo’s digital services.
