Services for Other Neurodivergences or Health-Related Conditions
With a view to promoting the right to education and inclusive teaching, the University of Turin—by adopting the latest guidelines of CNUDD (National University Conference of Delegates for Disability)—offers the possibility to request compensatory tools also to students who hold medical documentation that does not fall within the scope of disability, invalidity, or SLD certification.
The medical documentation must meet the following criteria:
- include a specific coded clinical diagnosis or diagnostic code
- be issued by the National Health Service (SSN) or—if privately issued—validated by the SSN or at least confirmed by a statement from the general practitioner
- be produced at least from upper secondary school onwards
To start the procedure, the documents must be submitted by email exclusively to the Student Inclusion Services Section at [email protected].
- Neurodevelopmental disorders (not falling within the SLD framework)
- Diagnosed psychiatric disorders
- Disabling medical conditions
All UniTo students with appropriate medical documentation, whether they attend degree programs at central campuses or at decentralized sites, can benefit from adaptations to study and assessment methods, while keeping learning objectives unchanged.
This is promoted through the preparation of the A TU PER TU document (Accordo individualizzaTo in Unito PER i supportTi Universitari).
A TU PER TU is a summary document, produced in collaboration with the Student Inclusion Services Section and issued to you, which contains the compensatory tools and dispensatory measures recommended during exams. You must always use this document when communicating with teaching staff.
To obtain your A TU PER TU, you must send an email to [email protected].
At the beginning of each course, you can start a dialogue with the teaching staff to explain your learning needs for classes and in preparation for the exam.
To take exams with the support of compensatory tools and/or dispensatory measures, about 15 working days before the exam date you must:
- send an email to the instructor, copying (Cc) [email protected]
- attach the A TU PER TU document to the email, also completing the specific attachment with requests for that individual exam. It is not necessary to attach your medical documentation
The instructor will review your request, taking into account the necessary support measures as well as the specific learning objectives of the course.
The Student Inclusion Services Section cannot, under current regulations, directly provide specific services to students who do not hold certifications of disability, invalidity, or SLD.
However, the University does offer opportunities to receive support.
