UNITA photo contest

UNITA's photo contests are a unique opportunity to raise awareness among the Alliance's academic community – students, lecturers, research staff, technical and administrative staff – on issues relevant to the Alliance, such as European identity and citizenship and major environmental challenges.

Through these competitions, which are published annually and open to all members of the Alliance universities, UNITA invites participants to reflect on and describe, with creativity and originality, cultural diversity, our common heritage and the transformations that will shape the sustainable future of Europe. The selected images are then showcased in exhibitions, publications and promotional initiatives.

UNITA Photo Contest 2026 – European Citizenship and Identity

The UNITA Photo Contest 2026 is open to students from the Alliance’s partner universities.

The goal of this contest is to find visual expressions of the European project of cooperation, mainly about the concepts of European Identity and Citizenship. The candidates must capture in their photos the essence of these concepts, reflecting them in their different manifestations and/or showing the new realities transforming the lives of European citizens.

In this call photographs focused on themes like European diversity and European cultural heritage will be especially valued.

Participants may submit either a single image or a photographic essay (a series of up to three images). A panel of experts will evaluate submissions based on artistic relevance and thematic coherence.

The winning photograph will receive a €150 prize, and the selected images will be featured in exhibitions, publications, and UNITA promotional initiatives.

Submission deadline: 31st May 2026.
