Required certification for students with SLD
A DSA (Specific Learning Disorders) certification valid for university purposes must meet the following requirements:
- It must explicitly refer to ICD-10 code F81.0–.1–.2–.3–.8 (including dysgraphia) and/or clearly state the name of the disorder (dyslexia and/or dysorthography and/or dysgraphia and/or dyscalculia), as indicated by the Italian Ministry of Education (MIUR) in the Guidelines attached to Ministerial Decree no. 5669/2011.
- It must be issued by the National Health Service (SSN) or, where provided for by regional regulations, by specialists or facilities accredited to issue DSA certifications. You are responsible for providing appropriate written documentation proving the accreditation of the specialists or facilities, if this is not explicitly stated in the certification. Please note that diagnoses issued by private (non-accredited) specialists or facilities must be validated by the National Health Service in order to be accepted.
- The date of issue must not be older than 3 years at the time the certification is submitted (the reference is the year of issue; therefore, all certifications issued from 1 January of the third year prior to enrollment in the test/degree program are considered valid). Certifications issued after the age of 18 are considered valid regardless of the date of issue.
If you do not have an up-to-date certification for enrollment in a test or degree program, please contact us for further information on possible pathways.
Note – For the filter semester assessments, DSA certifications older than three years will also be accepted, provided they meet the other regulatory requirements, as indicated in Annex 2 of Ministerial Decree no. 418 of 20/05/2025.
Certifications of EES (Special Educational Needs) or BES (Special Educational Needs) that do not indicate the presence of DSA do not allow the use of compensatory tools during admission tests, as they are not recognized by the current regulations governing university education.
If you are a student with DSA holding a certification issued outside Italy, you must obtain a sworn translation into Italian or English.
