Confidential Counsellor
The Trusted Advisor of the University for the 3-year period 2023/2026 is Attorney Federica Riccò.
This is the person institutionally responsible for providing information, advice, and free assistance to members of the university community (employees and students) who are subjected to discrimination, harassment, and violations of their dignity or mobbing (Article 6 of the University of Turin Code of Conduct).
This person is external to the Administration, independent of the parties in dispute, and is appointed by the University upon recommendation by the Single Guarantee Committee, following a specific call for applications. The person selected has the appropriate skills, professional experience, and personal experience to perform the required tasks: knowledge of law and labour law, conflict management, equal opportunity regulations, work-family life balance, etc.
What can this person do?
The Trusted Advisor may intervene, both informally and formally, with the written consent of the individual, in a preventative and repressive manner, for the purpose of conducting a direct investigation to determine disciplinary offenses in the event of psychologically and/or sexually harassing behaviour likely to undermine the dignity of those who study or work within the University. The Trusted Advisor has proactive duties towards the CUG; participates in training events and conferences, and supports the CUG in creating a local network for equal opportunities.
How can this person act?
The Advisor may act informally upon written request from the individual directly involved. The Advisor listens to the interested party, convenes a meeting with the opposing party, and, if necessary, compares their positions.
The Advisor acquires the elements, documents, and information necessary to assess the case, while fully respecting the privacy of both the injured party and the alleged perpetrator. The Advisor suggests appropriate actions to ensure a work environment that respects the freedom and dignity of the individuals and, in the most serious cases, as expressly envisaged in the Code of Conduct, may recommend to the Head of the relevant department the transfer of one of the individuals involved.
The Advisor may be involved in the formal procedure that may be initiated, possibly also upon the input of the Advisor, by the responsible Manager, the Director General, or the Chancellor, and which, following an appropriate investigation, may conclude with the adoption of disciplinary measures against the accused person.
