Deadlines and amount of the instalments
If you are a student:
- resident in Italy and you meet the independence requirements
- resident in Italy and you do not meet the independence requirements, but your family members are resident in Italy
- resident abroad, registered with AIRE and married to a citizen resident in Italy
you have to request an ISEE universitario in order to benefit from full-comprehensive contribution reduction.
The Contribution and tuition fees regulation for the academic year 2025-2026 provide for payment in four instalments.
The amount of the first instalment to be paid at the moment of matriculation/enrolment includes:
- duty stamp, virtually paid, according to law in force at the moment of enrolment: € 16.00
- regional tax for university study right: € 140.00 (for exemptions consult art. 3 of Contribution and tuition fees regulation).
The first instalment is to be paid:
- by 20th October 2025 for enrolment in years subsequent to the first year
- by 20th October 2025 for enrolment in all degree courses and 5-year/6-year postgraduate degree programs without restricted number of places (with free admission)
- by 16th January 2026 for enrolment in postgraduate degree programs without restricted number of places (with free admission)
- by 16th January 2026 only for students with a foreign qualification enrolling in the 1st year of degree course without restricted number of places (with free admission).

The second instalment is calculated:
- according to ISEE value and to exemption conditions – consult art. 2 and 3 of Contribution and tuition fees regulation and the Tax simulator
- calculating a part-time commitment for all students.
The second instalment to be paid:
- by 28th November 2025 for the majority of students
- by 30th January 2026, solely for students:
- enrolled for the first year of postgraduate degrees completing the enrolment after the 3rd November 2025
- with a foreign qualification who enrol on a first a.y. of an undergraduate/postgraduate degree/5-year or 6-year postgraduate degrees.
The third instalment is:
- calculated according to ISEE value and to exemption conditions – consult art. 2 and 3 of Contribution and tuition fees regulation
- updated according to the full-time/part-time commitment, chosen while submitting the career plan.
If the amount due is:
- € 160.00 or less, it must be paid in one instalment (third instalment)
- more than € 160.00, it must be paid into two equal instalments (third and fourth instalments).
The third instalment must be paid by 31st March 2026.
The fourth instalment corresponds to the balance of the full-comprehensive amount – consult art. 2 and 3 of Contribution and tuition fees regulation and the Tax simulator.
It must be paid by 29th May 2026.
In case the payment of an instalment is made after the deadline, a late payment fee will be charged in the amount of:
- € 40.00 late tuition fee payments within 45 days
- € 80.00 late tuition fee payments after 45 days.

According to new Italian regulation, starting from June 30th, 2020 all payments for Public Administrations must be made through the electronic system PagoPA.
It will not be possible to make the tuition fee payment via MAV form, even if the MAV form has already been printed, or via bank transfer to the University account. Only payments received via bank transfer from foreign accounts will be accepted.
