Psychological Support
What it is
The University of Turin offers free support to students and staff (academic and technical-administrative) experiencing psychological distress.
Through a professional helping relationship, the psychological support service enables individuals to better understand their patterns of thinking and behaviour, fostering greater awareness of the underlying causes of their distress. This process helps individuals develop more effective coping strategies.
The service addresses difficulties related to studying and motivation with regard to academic choices, as well as emotional and relational issues or challenges linked to stressful life events.
How it works
The psychological support service is provided in a private setting, independent from the University’s teaching facilities, and follows a two-step pathway: initially through the Listening Service and, if deemed necessary, with continued support through the Counseling Service.
First step: contact the University Listening Space
The Listening Space welcomes students and university staff experiencing difficulties and offers support and guidance in analysing and managing critical issues and developing useful resources for a positive quality of university life. The completely free service includes a series of interviews, up to a maximum of five, with licensed psychologists, specialists, and residents from the School of Health Psychology of the Department of Psychology
Second step: possible referral to the Counseling service
The provision of psychological support continues with the Counselling service, on the advice of the specialists of the Listening Space or at the student's choice, should he or she express the need to continue the listening and support process
