Support for deaf and hard of hearing students

To whom it is addressed

This service is for students with hearing impairments, who need support in the communication with professors, students, contact people and tutors at Ufficio Studenti con Disabilità e DSA and the technical administrative staff at Schools/Departments.

Who provides the service

The service is provided by specialized staff, composed of sign language interpreters and experts in the bimodal and oralist methods; one of these methods is adopted in conformity with the student’s needs, and is developed:

  • in the lecture room, together with the professor, in order to simplify the access to didactic contents, to verify the effective education of the students who benefit from support, and to facilitate socialization and integration;
  • at Ufficio Studenti con Disabilità e DSA, during the organization of the various activities
  • during preparation for the exams
  • during the exams
How to request

In order to request the service, fill in the form, at the beginning of each semester, and send it to Ufficio Studenti con Disabilità e DSA within 15 days of the start of the courses you want to attend (courses and timetables are available on the website of their respective departments). If the form is only partially filled in or does not meet the deadline, the service cannot start.

The University of Turin reserves the right to approve or reject the requests, depending on the available resources and their real benefits, proceeding with any necessary verification.

The continuity of the services is subject to passing the exams.
