ESRI ArcGIS Platform

What it is

ESRI Italia provides the University with a package called Educational Institutional SMALL, which allows for simple and direct use of numerous latest-generation GIS technologies.

The agreement provides access to all ESRI software, which is always kept up to date, for staff and students for educational and non-commercial research purposes only.

The contract provides for the distribution of software updates, online manuals, technical documentation by the supplier and related technical support.

Educational Institutional SMALL simplifies management, supply and usage procedures, eliminating the need for departments to independently purchase licences already covered by the agreement.

The Campus licence includes the option to provide students with an unlimited number of One Year licences for ArcGIS Desktop Advanced, complete with all extensions, to be installed on any workstation within the university, as well as on students' own computers.

The programme offers a range of usage options:

  • Desktop products: these are classic desktop products that are essential for mass data production, now definitively optimised thanks to the most advanced editing tools.
  • Extensions: a set of tools that enables the production of geospatial data and maps in compliance with strict industry standards, managing the entire lifecycle of geographic information.
  • Server solutions: ArcGIS for Server (Windows, Unix or Linux) provides the answer to the need to securely share geospatial data within workgroups on web, desktop and mobile applications.
  • Development: membership of the ESRI Developer Network allows you to take advantage of community resources, including online courses to support developers across the entire range of platform products.
  • Mobile: allows you to distribute GIS functionality to a wide range of mobile devices.

ArcGIS Online is a ready-to-use cloud platform for creating and sharing maps, applications, data and geographic content, thanks to its access to a rich collection of basic geographic data covering the entire globe.

The platform is available via the web and can also be used on smartphones and tablets. Easy to use, it requires no installation or configuration.

Who can use it

The software can be used by University staff and students.

Licences are granted free of charge, limited to the period of validity of the contract.

How to obtain it

You can request the software by contacting the ICT Team at your campus via a ticket on the UniTo Service Desk.

Students can ask their lecturers who are familiar with the software.
