The collaboration between OSA (Osservatorio Student* e Abitare), DIST– the Inter-University Department of Regional and Urban Studies and Planning at the Politecnico di Torino and the University of Turin – and CAMERA, Centro Italiano per la Fotografia, has promoted the call Fotografia e città: Studiare a Torino (Photography and the City: Studying in Turin) designed to recognise the perspectives of those who study and live in Turin.

The initiative forms part of the events organised for Urban Desires 2026. The aim is to build a collective narrative of Turin as seen by those who pass through it daily to study, meet up, live and explore, gathering images and perspectives that capture the city’s transformations, the spaces experienced every day, and the complexity of contemporary urban life. This call is aimed at students enrolled at universities in Turin who are interested in photography, the visual arts, architecture, urban design and contemporary forms of representation.

Participants may be selected for the Urban School of Photography, a free course running from 6th to 7th November 2026 aimed at university students interested in exploring photography as a tool for understanding, interpreting and representing the city.

Submission deadline is 9th October 2026.

To apply, candidates must submit, following the instructions in the call, a short text accompanied by a portfolio of 15 images that convey their vision of the city and everyday spaces: domestic settings, study spaces, social environments, virtual spaces or any context that is significant to their urban experience.
